clay modelling,

I would never want to stop learning

2:11:00 AM Pooja 0 Comments

I'm always attracted to the unknown art form. Anything that looks attractive and if I don't know how to do it, it will be in mind till I learn it or do it myself. Until then my mind would not let me sleep also in the night. I don't know when and how this happened that I fell in love with craft.

I had engaged my self with one day workshop to learn cutie doll and then learned royal curtain tie backs. And now what is tempting me is mixed media art ;)

There are so many tutorials on youtube. I have nearly seen 15-20 of them. After checking so many videos one thing what I understood is that this art form is comparatively expensive. The colours, modelling paste, gesso or anything related to this art is costly. There were so many online courses offer for this, where in teaching fee is nominal compared to material cost.

So, finally after doing so much of research, I finally decided to jump into it and try my first mixed media painting on canvas.

My trial turned out to be like this. This is without all the fancy materials. I am going to make a plan for myself to buy the colours on monthly basis.

I would request you to stay with me along with my new learnings, trials, mistakes, discoveries. ou suggestions and support mean a lot.

Wine Bottle decoration

10:18:00 PM Pooja 2 Comments

Hi Everyone,
Wish you all a very happy weekend! Though  I am not sure when I will be publishing this post. But its Saturday today so I thought let me wish you all before I start with actual matter.

Today, I am sharing some simple idea for wine bottle decoration.I was at my in laws place a month back or so.There I found beautiful snaps captured by my Husband. But as per him they are below his acceptable levels. So the beautiful snaps were just lying in a cupboard. I got them back with me.

So, lets get started. You need below materials to start with :

1. Glass bottle
2. Gesso/primer
3. While acrylic colour
4. Old phtotos
5. ribbons
6. Silicon glue

First of all remove the label from the bottle by soaking the bottle in warm soapy water for some time.
Then apply Gesso and then apply colour of your choice. I applied white colour.

Then cut the part of photo which you want to stick on bottle. Its not possible to stick it with mod podge. So better use silicon glue or glue gun. You can apply a coat of mod podge over it to secure it.This is not exactly decoupaging.
Once you are done, just decorate your bottle with ribbons and motifs.I am going to put this set of three beautiful bottles at the foyer i.e just near the entrance of the house.

Shoe box turned into CD organizer

10:51:00 PM Pooja 0 Comments

Hello ,
Today I have come with best out of waste idea using a shoe box.I wanted to make a CD organizer for home. Now you would ask who listens to CD these days? But we do. We are music lovers and music is best when listened from CD player.Believe me, we have tried all other ways!!

Ok..so coming back to this idea. I loved making it.I have used black and orange combination. Black goes good with my other show pieces on the table.I am going to give you complete procedure of how to make this organizer in the small video clip attached in this post.

So, this one is not only organizer but also a memory refresher. This means that I have kept pockets for keeping photos. And the photos can be changed as and when.
Lets have a look at it:

There is divider which divides organizer into two. One side I kept CDs of my kiddo and other side our CDs.I am also thinking of making color coded covers for CDs. When I will come up with that I will definitely write another post to show it.

"All it takes is 1 song to bring back 1000 memories". True, isn't it? This is the side view. It has a tag and a small quote again. I have made those golden screws with clay and painted it gold.
"Each memory has a soundtrack of its own". You can keep on changing the photos and refresh your memories.
As I promised, below is the small video clip which shows how to make this beautiful organizer.

How is it gals? Did you like it? Can you share your simple organization ideas that you use in your day to day life to make life easier.

My new learning : Royal curtain tie back

12:51:00 AM Pooja 0 Comments

Hello to all my dear readers..

As I had promised my self that I would learn at least one new thing this year. SoI had enrolled for learning this beautiful and royal curtain band online.
I was fascinated by its looks and pictures. I thought why not learn and make a pair for my own house.
It will not take you more than 2 days to complete one curtain band.
You should have basic sewing experience to start with and should have glue gun to proceed with:)
Rest all is fun. As you complete the flowers and petals and leaf one by one it would start getting into shape.Be prepared for some hard work to do but its not difficult.
You might want to check out my earlier post of curtain tie backs as well.
I have promised my sisters that I would make one for them also with different colour and combinations. I would post the pictures if I do make one more :)

Organizing craft supplies PART II

12:46:00 AM Pooja 0 Comments

Hey Dear All,

I am back with my second part of organizing craft supplies. You can check out what we did in PART I.  I am done with organizing my craft supplies and it feels so much better now. I can see what I have and where I have kept it. I do not have to open lot of boxes to see what is where. Everything is easily accessible. And this motivates me to do more paper crafts and other crafts.

I spent one full day organizing my supplies. Deciding what I need and what I have and what I would buy and from where. And I was so happy to spend time like that. My husband could not believe that how can someone be so excited to organize such a messed up shelf. I have re-used most of the things available at home. And bought only couple of things.

So let me show you what all the little improvements that I have done have made life easy for me:

1. Simple thing which made my life easier to access all the paper is this super simple organizer. Its a 3 layered organizer made of 3 boxes of same size. Now I can easily choose the paper I need.

2. The main thing in my mind was to maximize the top space also. So this is how I organized my scrapbook paper. I have put them in a thick transparent bag and put the flap of the bag over the hanger. Used cloth clips to stay it together.

3. Earlier I used to categorize and keep my colour pens and paint brushes in small cups over the shelf only. And everytime when I used to search for a craft paper from a box, this used to fall down. So, Isurfed on amazon again and again {I like it anyways ;)}to search what will best suit my need. I bought this shoe organizer which I could hang on the door. Maximized the space again!!

4. Now when the place for almost everything was decided, there remained quilling strips and thai clay to be organized.I bought these transparent good quality plastic boxes which can hold weight and also can be good enough to take care of delicate paper strips. And placed it like this on the right corner.

5. And here is ho wit finally looks.Left door has flower making supplies of crepe paper. Right door has pens and paint brush.Red organizer has ribbons, embellishments and variety of glues.
